5 Winter Modest Outfits You Need to Wear 2023

Updated: Sep 17, 2023

Let’s face it, dressing modestly is hard but it’s even harder in the winter, especially when you are trying to resist the urge to wear the same coat/jacket over everything.

Whether you are a Muslim striving for the ultimate modest closet for the winter or just looking for some inspiration in modest cosy outfits and looking for modest fashion brands - this post is for you!

For a quick look at some outfits I have put together, watch my TikTok video here

So, let’s start with – Jeans Outfits:

Jeans are the perfect warm and thick material for Autumn/Winter season – so you can’t go wrong with the style and colour. My go-to style is mom jeans or straight-cut jeans from Stradivarius in three main shades; black, light blue and washed blue.

Pair your jeans in three ways:

  1. Beige or Neutral Toned Jumper – plain, knitted or stripy, a jumper that stands out makes the look. Pair it with a contrasting or similar neutral hijab for a broader colour palette.

  2. High Neck Knitted Jumpers – best worn in darker colours i.e. emerald, dark grey and brown. If you wear a headscarf, tuck it into the jumper to avoid it clashing with the neck.

  3. Ribbed Top with Thick Blazer – this doesn’t have to be a ribbed top; any t-shirt of your choices will do as long as it matches the blazer colour. Ideally, dark coloured blazer looks best with neutral dark colours i.e. brown, grey, maroon for a more casual look. I like to pair my darker blazers with dark colours and light blazers i.e. light grey and beige with a white top.

Now for something more stylish – Leather Pants/Trousers

Leather pants are usually in the same, if not, higher price range compared to a good quality pair of jeans. The good thing is they last long and you only need two colours. However, these can also come in many styles i.e. straight cut, tight fit or flared. My personal favourites are straight cut and flared as this these look most classy. Style your leather pants modestly in two ways:

  1. High neck Knitted Medium Length Jumper – the tight fit and straight cut style suit best with medium/long jumpers. Black leather pants go with almost every colour of jumper but look best with dark colours and neutral colours.

  2. Cropped Jumper with Blazer – this may sound odd but establishing a colour palette for your outfit can help style a blazer and jumper together with leather pants. Tan leather trousers look sleek with neutral colours to integrate with your blazer and top.

Let’s not forget – Co-ord Sets!

Can’t go wrong with a modest co-ord set, whatever the weather. Co-ords also come in various styles so I have linked three different options you can choose from you suit your style. These are linked directly to the Amazon site for you to browse and are available in more colours!

  1. Grey Knitted Cardigan Co-ord – My personal favourite, can be worn as in the picture or as an open cardigan with a t-shirt and a different bottom (jeans or leather pants).

  2. Beige Knitted Skirt Co-ord – This is a popular style that suits most body types, pair this with a long beige or grey coat for the winter and knee-high boots.

  3. Casual Trouser – Shirt Co-ord – Another fav, perfect for the summer but also winter if worn with thermal leggings and a layered top. Pair this with gold jewellery and heels for a lunch/dinner event.
